Public Montessori Teacher Training Scholarships
In order to support our public Montessori programs in their need for more fully-qualified guides, we are excited to offer two scholarships for 2023-2024.
Each scholarship will fund half the cost of tuition for a Montessori teacher preparation program.
Desired applicants:
- Are associated with a Georgia public school or district
- Hold a bachelor's degree
- Are willing to commit to a minimum of three years of continued service in Georgia's public Montessori schools
Qualifying teacher preparation programs:
- Are affiliated with the Association Montessori International (AMI) or the American Montessori Society (AMS)
- Are MACTE accredited, or will be by the applicant's graduation date
The application process includes:
- An application form
- A written personal statement
- A letter of recommendation from someone on the leadership team of a Georgia public school or district
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Featured Montessori teacher preparation programs:
Montessori Teacher Education Institute of Atlanta offers Children's House (ages 3-6), Elementary I (ages 6-9) and Elementary I-II (ages 6-12) courses. Their course format requires travel or Atlanta or Savannah (depending on the course site) one weekend a month for the duration of the course. They are AMS affiliated.
Montessori Institute of North Texas offers Children's House (ages 3-6) and Elementary I-II (ages 6-12) courses. They offer a blended course format, with most learning offered online, with brief required residency periods in Dallas, TX. They have a strong focus on preparing public Montessori educators and offer an additional 20% scholarship to all accepted applicants employed by a public school system. They are AMI affiliated.
Rising Tide Montessori offers Children's House (ages 3-6) Montessori teacher certification with a strong focus on equity, access, and public education. Their course is mostly online and self-paced, with options to complete the course in a shorter or longer time frame as needed. A brief residency period is required in New Jersey. They are AMI affiliated.
